1. An Ancient Standard of Beauty
The Bṛhatsaṃhitā describes the
qualities sought in a fine emerald:
शुकवंशपत्रकदलीशिरीषकुसुमप्रभं

The verse recognises emerald through
several greens found in nature—not one prescribed shade. Moraebi looks for the

2. The Astrological Standard for Emerald
The Bṛhatsaṃhitā describes emerald
through the many greens found in nature:

The verse does not demand one fashionable
green. It recognises that emerald can hold many natural shades.
Natural emerald almost always contains
inclusions. Crystals, fine needles, growth lines, cavities and healed fissures
may create the internal landscape traditionally called jardin—French for
“garden.” These features are like the emerald’s birthmarks. Laboratories study
them to establish natural formation, identify treatments and, in some cases,
support an opinion about geographic origin.
Moraebi accepts a visible jardin. We
avoid emeralds with extensive open fractures, unstable cavities, severely
weakened edges or damage that makes the gemstone unsuitable for continuous
wear.
For astrological jewellery, we consider
the recommended ratti together with natural green colour, lustre and structural
condition. Moraebi follows the gemstone and weight recommended by your
astrologer; we do not prescribe emerald or quietly replace it with green glass,
synthetic emerald or another green gemstone.

The Green Must Be Natural. Never Treated.
Emerald occurs in nature as a spectrum of
tones and colours—fresh green, bluish green, yellowish green, softly muted or
deeply saturated. The appropriate green is not one fashionable shade—it is
colour that feels alive in daylight and remains attractive in ordinary indoor
light.
Most emeralds in the wider market are
clarity enhanced with colourless oil or resin. Others may be filled with
coloured oil or resin, dyed, coated or fracture filled to improve their colour
or apparent clarity.
An untreated emerald may appear more
included or modest than an enhanced stone offered at a similar price. Moraebi
selects only natural emeralds with no evidence of treatment.
For astrological jewellery, we never
compromise or replace emerald with laboratory-created emerald, synthetic
material, glass or another green gemstone. A doublet or triplet is an assembled
stone created to give the appearance of a larger or finer emerald. A substitute
may look similar, but it has not shared emerald’s natural chemical and
structural formation.

Natural emerald ranges from light green to deep, saturated green.
t may be nearly opaque, translucent or transparent.
Fine, transparent emeralds with vivid colour are rare and may cost exceptionally high prices.

The right emerald is not necessarily the clearest one.
It is the stone that meets your recommendation, remains structurally suitable and offers an honest balance of colour, presence and price.
Eye-visible inclusions are expected in most natural emeralds.
Completely clean-looking natural emeralds are exceptionally rare.
Emerald inclusions may appear as tiny crystals, fine needles, liquid or gas-filled cavities, clouds, growth lines and healed or open fissures.
Their mossy, garden-like appearance is traditionally called jardin—French for “garden.”
These inclusions are the emerald’s birthmarks.
Gemologists study them, together with spectroscopy and trace-element chemistry, to identify natural formation, detect treatment and sometimes form an opinion about geographic origin.
No single inclusion proves that an emerald is natural or Colombian.

Greater caution is required when an emerald has:

● Inclusions that make the stone structurally weak
Some astrological traditions also avoid heavily fractured, damaged, dull or prominently spotted emeralds.
These are traditional suitability standards—not scientifically established measures of astrological effect.
Moraebi describes what is present instead of calling every inclusion either a “defect” or a “beautiful imperfection.”
Natural character and structural weakness are not the same thing.
Clarity enhancement is widespread in the emerald market.
Oil, wax or resin may be introduced into surface-reaching fractures to make them less visible.
This can make an included emerald appear clearer and more valuable than it looked before treatment.
Laboratory reports may describe the degree of clarity enhancement as:
● F1 — Minor
● F2 — Moderate
● F3 — Significant
These classifications describe how much the filler affects the emerald’s face-up appearance.
They do not mean that the emerald has been graded for overall quality.

If a very clear, richly coloured and unusually large emerald is offered at an accessible price, read the laboratory report carefully.
It may be filled, synthetic or another green material.

Each word establishes something different.
Natural means the emerald formed in the earth rather than in a laboratory.
Untreated means no treatment has been detected to alter its apparent clarity or colour.

Transparent describes how readily light passes through the stone.
It does not establish natural origin, treatment status or astrological suitability.
A natural emerald may contain oil or resin. An untreated emerald may be translucent or visibly included.
A certificate records gemological findings; it does not make every emerald equally valuable.

Colombian emeralds have an important history and exceptional examples can command substantial premiums.
Zambian emeralds are also highly regarded, while emeralds occur in India, Brazil, Afghanistan, Ethiopia and other regions.
Colombian emeralds are often associated with warmer pure greens and Zambian emeralds with cooler bluish greens, but appearances overlap.
Colour alone cannot reliably establish origin.
Origin may matter greatly when a gemstone is being selected for rarity, provenance or investment.
It does not replace an examination of colour, transparency, fractures, treatment and structural condition.
If your recommendation specifies an origin, Moraebi follows it.

An accessible emerald may be more included, lighter in colour or less transparent than an investment-grade emerald.
