Natural & Untreated

Natural means a gemstone formed in nature rather than being created in a laboratory.

A natural gemstone may still have been treated after mining. Rubies and sapphires may be heated; emeralds may be filled with oil or resin; other gemstones may be dyed, irradiated, diffusion-treated, coated or fracture-filled.

A treated gemstone can therefore still be natural.

Untreated means no evidence of such treatment has been detected within the scope of the relevant gemological examination.

A synthetic or laboratory-created gemstone is produced by people under controlled conditions. It may have essentially the same chemical composition and crystal structure as its natural counterpart, but it did not form naturally within the Earth.

An imitation is a material that resembles another gemstone but is not that gemstone.

We work with gemstones chosen for astrological jewellery, where many people specifically seek gemstones in their natural, unaltered state. We respect that tradition.

Moraebi therefore selects natural gemstones with no evidence of treatment for its astrological gemstone offering.

We do not present a heated gemstone as untreated, a synthetic gemstone as natural or an imitation as the gemstone it resembles.
